How I Got Started with Tarot and Why I Don't Use it to Predict the Future 🔮

Springin' forth with a fun video

If he fear to swerve

Happy Spring Equinox/Ostara!

Last night I did something brave. It was something I’d been wanting to do for years, and I let feelings of intimidation get in my way. When I finally did it, I felt so alive!

And I wanted to keep that momentum going. So I did another brave thing this morning.

I recorded a video for you! This video covers:

  • How I got started with tarot (11 years ago)

  • What to expect from a tarot session with me

  • How I use tarot as a tool for healing, not fortune-telling

  • Why my first-ever tarot reading was horrible

  • Myths about your first tarot deck

Plus a solid dose of rambling for good measure. I hope you love it!

Today is the Spring Equinox and Pagan festival of Ostara. It’s also the start of Aries season, so I thought this was the perfect time to begin something new.

Thank you for reading action potential. This post is public so feel free to share it.

A Bit About Ostara

Named for the Germanic goddess Eostre, Ostara is the Pagan festival from which many Christian Easter traditions originate (baskets of grass, painted eggs, bunnies, etc).

Fun fact — the female hormone estrogen is named for the goddess Eostre.

Because Ostara celebrates fertility and renewal, symbols usually include eggs and hares. There’s a fun folk tale about Eostre and an egg-laying hare.

Indoor Ideas to Honor Ostara

Depending on where you live, it might not feel like spring, yet. There’s still plenty of snow on the ground here, but it’s melting fast!

There are plenty of things you can do inside to celebrate the changing of seasons:

  • Cook with eggs (I had some from my silkies for breakfast, paired with sprouts)

  • Spring clean your home and energetically cleanse it with sage/palo santo/etc

  • Bless your garden tools

  • Start seeds indoors or in a greenhouse

  • Buy seeds (I highly recommend High Mowing — that’s where we get 80% of our seeds for the farm, I also use their sprouting kit throughout the winter)

Ostara is also a really potent time to begin a new project or commit to something you want to see to fruition! I talk a little about this in my tarot video, too ;)

Three Things I Love

  1. Listening to Patti Smith talk about her love for being alive, and her need to write

  2. Looking forward to watching this Judy Blume documentary

  3. This detox yoga flow is perfect for shedding the winter blues

Thanks so much for reading, and have an awesome week!

I love you,

Lauren
